ALPINA Parking establishes the first barrier-free parking garage in the city center of Klagenfurt in 2026

ALPINA Parking introduces the first barrier-free parking system in the center of the Carinthian capital. At the same time, the Heiligengeistplatz underground car park is modernized and technically upgraded.

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. The operator ALPINA Parking, which is active in Austria and Germany, has introduced a digitalized and barrier-free parking operation in the Heiligengeistplatz underground car park in Klagenfurt. The four-storey garage with a total of 286 parking spaces on Villacher Ring 30 was taken over by ALPINA Parking GmbH from Vienna at the turn of the year. The contractual partner of the 33-year lease agreement is the holding company of a private owner. The property has been in regular operation since the new technology was introduced in January. The digital parking system is provided by the manufacturer Arivo. In perspective further modernization measures are planned.

The Heiligengeistplatz underground parking garage belongs to the building complex “The Holly”a revitalized former department store. As a multifunctional commercial building, it houses retail outlets, office space, doctors’ surgeries and a fitness center, among other things. As a public transport hub, Heiligengeistplatz is located at one of the busiest locations in the state capital. The building exit leads directly into the “Innere Stadt” with the historic town hall and the Klagenfurt Landhaus, the seat of the Carinthian provincial government and parliament. The entrance from the Ring is located “green roofed” under the Schillerpark not far from the Lendhafen.

We were very keen to gain the Heiligengeistgarage as a new location, as we are excited about the special location in the city center – between the old town and the increasingly popular district on the Lendkanal“, explains Maximilian Bichlmaier, CEO of ALPINA Parking. “This location makes the site particularly attractive for visitors to the city and for employees of the town hall and state government. Our parking concept meets the requirements of modern cities by helping to reduce inner-city search traffic and significantly increasing convenience for users.”

“Free-Flow” – convenience for all park guests: barrier-free and ticket-free

Parking customers can enter the underground parking garage without having to take a ticket. The license plate number is captured by special cameras. After parking, the license plate number is entered directly at the pay station to pay conveniently by card or cell phone via QR code. A special luxury: the outstanding bill can be paid on the move for up to 48 hours after parking. No app is required for this. It is also possible to book parking spaces in advance via a web store. Long-term parkers can manage their contract digitally as required. The new parking tariff is 3,90 € per 45 minutes, the maximum daily rate is € 46.80. Long-term parkers pay 142 per month and €150 for the monthly flex rate. The late fee is 5,-Euro (19:00 – 07:00 o’clock). A personal contact person is available to answer any questions via the ALPINA service number.

Can be used with two parking apps for the first time

With the new ALPINA Smile App registered users receive attractive discounts and additional convenience, for example by being able to park and pay “without hurdles”, as billing takes place automatically via the digitally stored payment method. At the same time, customers can also use the APCOA Flow App at the same conditions at ALPINA.

“With the recognition of the Apcoa Flow app, we are working together with Apcoa to make parking as easy and cost-effective as possible for our customers,”explains Maximilian Bichlmaier. “The aim is to continue working together for the benefit of our customers in the future and to implement such collaborations at other locations.”

Further modernizations planned

ALPINA Parking plans to upgrade the underground car park with a new design and to organize the parking processes in an environmentally friendly way using the digital system. The new features include floor markings, painting work and the installation of security cameras. In addition, special areas as parking spaces for women, families and senior citizens and wheelchair-accessible parking spaces clearly marked and identified. Also E-charging stations are marked so that they are easy to find. Thanks to the precise control of parking search traffic and a paperless parking system, ALPINA significantly reduces CO₂ emissions and focuses on resource-saving operation.

Another highlight of the new location is the free WLANwhich ALPINA will provide in the future and which facilitates the effortless use of digital services such as navigation, payment, online research or charging. In the long term, the location could develop into a Mobility hub with additional offerings such as car sharing, car rental and other services.

ALPINA Parking takes over Lindeblock underground parking garage in Bad Godesberg and offers 24/7 parking in the city center

Bonn/Bad Godesberg. The nationwide parking garage operator ALPINA Parking took over the operation of 187 parking spaces in the underground parking garage of the Lindeblock in Bad Godesberg in December.

The building complex, a prominent corner building from the 1990s with 8,200 m² of rental space, is located at Moltkestrasse 2-14, in the immediate vicinity of the city center. The owner of the mixed-use building with residential, office and retail space as well as the municipal district library is Landmarken AG from Aachen, which acquired the property in 2021 and upgraded it through sustainable portfolio development. The city administration of Bonn has rented 5,500 m² of rental space as the anchor tenant and moved into the Lindeblock with the authority center in 2025. Shopping facilities, a cinema, restaurants and the train station are all within walking distance. ALPINA Parking took over the operation of the underground parking garage for short-term and long-term parkers on December 9 with a long-term lease agreement concluded between Landmarken AG and ALPINA Parking Deutschland GmbH in November.

“We are delighted to manage and further develop the Lindeblock underground parking garage,” explains Maximilian Bichlmaier, CEO of ALPINA Parking. “The location is ideally situated, right at the entrance to the city center. In addition to the fixed rental of parking spaces for authorities and employees, we want to offer city visitors in particular convenient parking options around the clock with a differentiated range of tariffs.”

Investment in modern technologies, environmental friendliness and a “little luxury” in everyday life

With the new opening hours (24/7), short-term parkers can leave their vehicle in the underground parking garage at any time. An ALPINA parking garage manager will be on site as a contact person for customers. In addition, the ALPINA Parking office in Munich and a 24-hour hotline will be available. Previously, the underground parking garage was closed after 8 p.m., which is why it did not offer any parking options for evening visits to the city center.

In addition to new signage and equipment, ALPINA Parking is also investing in new parking technology by taking over the digital system integrated in summer 2025. The manufacturer Arivo, which provides ticketless “free-flow parking” without barriers, is already a technology partner of ALPINA in other properties. The new technology allows the license plate number to be automatically captured by special cameras. At the pay stations, the parking process is then only paid for by entering the license plate number with a card or digitally with a QR code via a web store. This eliminates the need for a parking ticket. Alternatively, it is possible to pay via the webshop up to 48 hours after parking.

Despite extended opening hours and modernized technology, ALPINA’s tariff structure offers moderate prices: 1.00 Euro for the first half hour and 2.00 Euro per hour thereafter. The daily maximum is 19.00 euros. Long-term parkers can rent a parking space as an annual contract for 110 euros per month or choose a flexible monthly offer.

The direct, barrier-free access and ALPINA’s parking garage management system, which is tailored to the location, systematically avoids parking search traffic and enables environmentally friendly parking. The paperless payment system without tickets also has a positive effect on theCO2 balance. Five e-charging stations are also planned for the parking spaces used by the city. If demand increases, the range could be expanded further.

“We want to combine environmentally friendly management with maximum convenience for our customers and offer them a pleasant, uncomplicated parking experience, a little luxury in everyday life,” says Maximilian Bichlmaier.

Reopening of the historic Astoria garage by ALPINA Parking in Vienna

  • 300 parking spaces back in operation from Saturday, November 29
  • Christmas reception with 3 days of discounted parking on the 1st weekend of Advent (Sat., 29.11./Sun., 30.11.) including Monday, December 1
  • Modernization of parking processes planned

Vienna. The ALPINA Parking Group, which is active in Austria and Germany, will take over the operation of the historic Astoria Garage from November 29, 2025 from 1918 in the Josefstadt district of Vienna. The building, which was converted into a tower garage with 442 parking spaces in the 1930s, is one of the first daylight garages in Vienna and one of the largest and oldest of its kind in Europe. Not far from Rathausplatz, Volksgarten and Museumstraße, the parking garage is centrally located at Trautsongasse 4 in the 8th district of the Austrian capital. Situated on the edge of the “inner city”, the building with its roof level and glass dome offers around 18,000 m² of usable space on six floors. From Saturday November 29, at 10:00 a.m. the Astoria Garage by ALPINA will open its doors around the clock.

Following the closure of the traditional garage in July 2024, operations will start after more than a year, just in time for the Christmas season, initially with around 300 parking spaces, as the new owner, Jürgen Hesz, announced in October. The necessary renovation work had already begun in recent weeks. The management contract negotiated between Meta Astoria Garagen GmbH and the Vienna-based operating company Alpina Parking GmbH provides for a long-term term and, in the long term, the complete renewal of parking operations.

“With ALPINA Parking, a suitable operator has been found who will optimally accompany the challenging revitalization of the Astoria garage with an individual location concept,” says Jürgen Hesz, Managing Director of Meta Astoria Garagen GmbH.

“We are delighted to reopen the traditional parking garage this Advent weekend and to welcome the first visitors in person. In the future, we would like to offer all our customers modern, convenient parking in a historic ambience and thus a little luxury in everyday life,” emphasizes Maximilian Bichlmaier, CEO of ALPINA Parking, who comes from Vienna. The parking garage operator also plans to reactivate the other 100 parking spaces in the building over time.

Welcome gift on the first weekend of Advent

For three days, from Saturday, November 29, through Monday, December 1, ALPINA Parking is offering all parking guests in the ASTORIA garage a special rate of just 10 Euro for the whole day (24 h). In Vienna’s city center, it is currently usual to pay up to 50 euros per day. Within the Vienna Ring, the historic city center, parking fees are usually 5.50 euros per hour. The price for short-term parking in the Astoria garage, which is still outside the city center, is 5 euros per hour and the daily maximum 45 Euro. Long-term parkers pay around 350 euros net (420 euros gross) per month. Several ALPINA parking garage managers are scheduled to look after the parking garage on site.

An initial technical solution for an uncomplicated parking process will be implemented for the opening at the weekend. In the long term, the plan is to switch to a fully digitalized operation with modern pay stations and automatic license plate recognition. The new parking technology will be supplied by the established system manufacturer Arivo from Graz.

“Our aim is to integrate a super-modern mobility hub into the historic walls: with charging points for electric vehicles, full digitalization and differentiated offers for park customers. At the same time, we want to preserve the flair of the historic park, for example with signage reminiscent of the period after the First World War. There is still a long way to go before we have realized all these plans, but we are already very much looking forward to working in and on the beautiful Astoria Garage,” says Maximilian Bichlmaier.

Gersthofen/Augsburg. ALPINA Parking has been awarded the contract to operate around 400 parking spaces at the City-Center Gersthofen near Augsburg. This includes an underground garage with two parking levels and around 50 outdoor parking spaces near the center. ALPINA Parking manages three municipal parking garages in Rüsselsheim am Main

Rüsselsheim. In September 2025, ALPINA Parking from Munich took over the management of three central municipal parking garages in Rüsselsheim. The management contract between the city and ALPINA Parking Rüsselsheim GmbH was concluded in March 2025 and covers the management of a total of 742 parking spaces, including 242 in the An der Festung parking garage at Frankfurter Straße 5, 233 in the Park & Ride parking garage at Rüsselsheim station, Grabenstraße 42, and 267 parking spaces in the centrally located underground garage at Löwenplatz for visitors to the city center.

City Councillor Simon Valerius explains: “The new service provider Alpina offers modern parking technology and significantly improves the booking and payment options. It is also pleasing that the multi-storey parking lot on Grabenstraße is no longer exclusively reserved for public transport customers, but can now also be made available to the general public. The city is thus expanding its offer for short-term parking outside the public street space.”

ALPINA Parking supports both cash and cashless payment methods at all three locations. ALPINA had already been awarded the contract for the management of the three Rüsselsheim parking garages at the end of 2024 as part of a Europe-wide tender.

“We are very proud that we were able to win over the city of Rüsselsheim with our concept in the highly competitive tendering process,” explains ALPINA CEO Maximilian Bichlmaier. “With simplified processes, high service quality and offers individually tailored to the locations, we want to make parking as uncomplicated and pleasant as possible.”

New processes, moderate parking fees and more security

The new parking technology includes automatic license plate recognition, which eliminates the need for the usual parking ticket. The license plate number is automatically recorded on entry and only needs to be entered at the pay station for access control and payment. On exit, the license plate number is checked by the cameras and, if payment has been made, released. The parking charges set by the city remain moderate.

In terms of security, the zones around the pay machines and the entrances and exits will be monitored by camera in future. In the underground car park at Löwenplatz, a fast-closing roller shutter will also be installed at the initiative of the city to prevent unauthorized access to the entrance and exit areas. In future, the central entrance to the underground car park can only be accessed by those authorized to park, as both entrances will be secured by an access system.

Environmentally friendly parking with webshop, QR code and local contact person

The flexible payment system introduced by ALPINA Parking is particularly advantageous for users of the three parking garages. Payment can be made in cash or online via a QR code at all three locations.

“It is important to us that a service employee from ALPINA is also personally available for our customers in all three parking garages in the Löwenplatz underground car park and that the parking process can be handled in a resource-saving manner without the use of paper tickets,” emphasizes Maximilian Bichlmaier.
